Based in Amsterdam, this programme combines the capital’s iconic canals, historic districts and cultural highlights with a selection of the country’s most popular excursions. Guests will experience the colourful flower fields of Keukenhof (seasonal), the traditional windmills of Zaanse Schans, and the charming fishing villages of Edam, Volendam and Marken. The itinerary also includes the picturesque, car-free village of Giethoorn—often referred to as the “Venice of the North”—and a visit to Rotterdam, known for its impressive modern architecture and Europe’s largest port.

Day 1Arrival in Amsterdam

  • Arrival at Amsterdam Airport around midday
  • Transfer to the city centre and hotel check-in
  • First introduction to the city with a walk through the historic centre
  • Free time at Dam Square and around the Royal Palace
  • Overnight in Amsterdam

Day 2Historic Amsterdam and Canals

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Canal cruise through Amsterdam’s famous waterways
  • Visit to the historic centre, including:
    • Royal Palace Amsterdam
    • Jordaan district
    • Anne Frank House (outside visit or entrance subject to prior reservation)
  • Walk through the charming streets and along the canals.
  • Free evening.
  • Overnight in Amsterdam.

Day 3Vondelpark, Flower Market and Diamonds

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Visit to the famous Vondelpark
  • Walk along the Singel Canal
  • Visit to the floating Flower Market
  • Demonstration at a diamond cutting factory with explanation of the polishing process
  • Free exploration of the city in the afternoon
  • Visit to a special coffeeshop (in accordance with local regulations)

Day 4Keukenhof

(Only possible between 19 March and 10 May)

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Departure to Keukenhof (approx. 50 km from Amsterdam)
  • Visit to one of the largest flower parks in the world
  • Admire millions of tulips, hyacinths and daffodils
  • Optional combination with a boat tour through the bulb fields
  • Return to Amsterdam in the afternoon
  • Overnight in Amsterdam.

Outside the Keukenhof opening period, an alternative programme in Amsterdam or the surrounding area can be arranged.

Day 5Zaanse Schans, Edam, Volendam and Marken

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Departure to Zaanse Schans
    • Visit traditional windmills and typical green wooden houses
    • Demonstration at a traditional clog workshop
  • Continue to Edam
    • Visit to a cheese factory
    • Explanation of the production of Edam cheese
    • Cheese tasting
  • Continue to Volendam
    • Walk along the fishing harbour
    • Free time for lunch in a fish restaurant
  • Visit to Marken
    • Authentic village with narrow streets
    • Traditional wooden houses
    • Visit to the lighthouse

Day 6Giethoorn, Venice of the Netherlands

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Departure to Giethoorn (approx. 110 km from Amsterdam)
  • Discovery of the picturesque, car-free village
  • Boat tour through the canals and past thatched-roof farmhouses
  • Free time for lunch and a walk
  • Return to Amsterdam

Day 7Rotterdam

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Departure to Rotterdam.
  • Panoramic tour through the modern city
